“Building Together” in Macedonia: four local networks have been formed in three cities

Within the project “Building Together – Community Monitoring and Advocacy” four local networks have been formed in Macedonia so far - in Gevgelija, Kumanovo, and two in Skopje. The aim of these networks is to help improve the quality of coexistence of migrants and local population, with a special focus on the issues women and children are facing.

Local networks are the first of such kind in the Republic of Macedonia, and are made up of representatives of CSOs, state and educational institutions, centers for social work, and all those government bodies dealing with the care of migrants in their daily work.

Despite the fact that the number of migrants in Macedonia is currently low, local networks are expected to contribute to more efficient resolution of potential issues in the field, and to improve the coexistence of migrants and local population.

The project “Building Together – Community Monitoring and Advocacy” (“Building Together”) is directed toward improving the position of migrants and refugees in Serbia and Macedonia, especially women and children among them. It is being implemented by Konrad Adenauer Foundation, in cooperation with Citizens’ Association “Atina”, and NGO Macedonian Lawyers Association, with the financial support of European Union.
