Initiating the process of drafting the National Social Welfare Protection Strategy 2019-2025

On April 20, 2018 a conference “Initiating the process of drafting the National Social Welfare Protection Strategy 2019-2025 was held in the National Assembly of Serbia in Belgrade. The conference was attended by a huge number of domestic experts dealing with social protection issue. Aside from them, in attendance was the Director of Citizens’ Association Atina, Marijana Savic, who talked about challenges from a service provider perspective, with a special emphasis on Citizens’ Association Atina licensed service to provide assisted housing intended for the human trafficking victims. Besides Ms. Savic, Vera Madzgalj, Executive Director of BELhospice, Belgrade, Djurdjevka Tafra, the Director of Center for Social Work, Plandiste, as well as Miroljub Nikolic, the Director of Karitas Sabac, Sabac took participation in the panel. The panel moderator was Andreja Tonc, Team Leader and Grant Expert of the Project ”Support to the Development of Regulatory Social Welfare Protection Mechanisms”.

During the conference, challenges and strategtic framework for social welfare protection in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the key challneges in the area of social welfare protection were discussed. Bozidar Dakic, the Director of the Republic Fund for Social Protection, talked about the topics for future Social Welfare Protection Strategy, while Zarko Sunderlic, expert on the project “Support to the Development of Regulatory Social Welfare Protection Mechanisms”, as well as Aleksandra Jovic, UNICEF representative talked about the same issue form the perspective of European integrations, goals of sustanable development, and existing strategic framewrok in the Republic of Serbia.

A topic that draw the attention was related to the change directions in the area of social welfare protection for the years to come. In participation were also Nadezda Sataric, the President of AMITY Steering Committee, as well as Svetlana Drazevic, the director of the Center for Social Work in Kraljevo, Sandra Peric, the Director of the Chamber of Social Protection, as well as Zoran Milacic, the Director of the Center for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth, Belgrade.
