Marijana Savic, director of NGO Atina, was among more than 25 distinguished speakers at DCI’s 7th International Conference on Child Rights & Sight held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Yale University. The Conference on Child Rights & Sight is part of DCI’s global initiative to raise awareness of children’s rights and blindness prevention. It is one of Connecticut’s largest international gatherings in the non-profit sector. The event brings together representatives from some of the world’s leading non-governmental organizations, as well as international diplomats, academics, grassroots community leaders, humanitarian leaders, and delegations from different local colleges and university partners.

This year, approximately 300 people joined DCI at Yale’s Anlyan Center for Medical Research for an inspiring and educational day of lectures and networking. Participants heard from more than 25 distinguished speakers including  H.E. Ambassador Dan Mozena (Retired), Caroline Harper (CEO, Sightsaver), Dr. Jane Aronson (CEO and President, Worldwide Orphans), Regina Snowden (Founder & Executive Director, Partners for Youth with Disabilities), Rachel Zelon (Founder and President & CEO, Hunger Relief International),  Marijana Savic (Director, NGO Atina, Belgrade, Serbia), Professor Michele Riondino (Australian Catholic University, Sydney, Australia), Dr. Angelica Ponguta (Yale University Child Study Center), Dr. Niloufar Rezai (Director, Child and Family Development Resource Center, Eastern Connecticut State University), Professor Neelima Deshmukh  (Director, Centre for Women’s Studies & Development, Nagpur University India), Masudur R. Khan (Managing Director and Co-owner, Seaside Lodging), Natascha Finnerty (Rotary Club of Cambridge), Paula Sotnik (Project Director, Institute for Community Inclusion,  University of Massachusetts Boston),  Karreem Mebane (Director of the Office of Volunteer Programs and Service Learning, Sacred Heart University),  and many more.  Throughout the day youth volunteers from all over the country also showcased their work and experience.

The 2019 7th International Conference on Child Rights & Sight was organized in partnership with Yale University, Yale UNICEF, Sacred Heart University, Eastern Connecticut State University, Wesleyan University, University of Saint Joseph, Quinnipiac University, Western Connecticut State University, University of New Haven, and several local community colleges.
