The Number of Forcibly Displaced People Worldwide at a Record High

During the second week of the Summer School on Forced Displacement, which is becoming an increasingly prominent issue, organised by the Center for Forced Displacement at Boston University, USA, and supported by the Research Center for Migration, Integration, and Governance of Migration Phenomena (MIGREC) at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, students participated in the activities of civil society organisations active in the field of migration in Serbia.

The participants of the Summer School were undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students from both universities who had the opportunity to get acquainted with programs and services of direct support for women from migrant and refugee populations. They also conversed with members of the Advocacy Group to learn about their work, initiatives, and suggestions for improving the support system for women victims of gender-based violence with refugee experiences. They visited the social enterprise Bagel Bejgl and learned about the women's social entrepreneurship initiative and the reasons for establishing Atina's social enterprise. They also participated in preparing and conducting workshops for women at the Asylum Center in Krnjača, which Atina’s team has been organising every Friday for many years.

The students prepared and presented a presentation on Atina, their activities, and their impressions from the collaborative work. The team from the NGO Atina warmly thanks them for the experience and knowledge exchange, and our longtime collaborator, Professor Natalija Perišić, for everything she does for and with our future professionals we rely on.
