Parent’s sacrifice is expected even nowadays

A recent survey on the correlation between gender stereotypes and gender-based violence has shown that a significant number of women would neither leave their violent partner nor report violence.

Also, a great number of girls believe that the most important mission for a woman is to be fulfilled through a mother’s role and that her value is measured by her eagerness to sacrifice for her children and family.

Citizens’ Association Atina report to GREVIO committee on the application of the Istanbul Convention

Association Atina has submitted a report on the application of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence to the GREVIO expert group.  The emphasis of Atina’s report was placed on the violence against women among refugee and migrant population, which has been in focus since the breakout of the migrant crisis in the summer of 2015.

COUNCIL OF EUROPE REPORT: Child exploitation is the greatest challenge

The Council of Europe presented its new report on protecting refugee children from sexual exploitation and abuse which identified that the key challenges are data collection, victims’ identification and their protection. 

While there is no aggregated data available on the total number of children affected by refugee crisis in Europe, the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children assesses that in 2015 at least 337,000 children were registered as asylum seekers, 88,300 of whom were unaccompanied.
